(Poem 38) Future-to-be

I got married in June and I wrote this while planning my wedding. Shared it on Facebook and I thought this place could use a little love. Of course I married the guy I wrote the poem 24 about. <3

Future-to-be

Picking and planning
This is kind of demanding
But exciting and fun

What colors to use
What look will diffuse
Over this empty space

Searching for the dress
That looks the best
With an ivory sheen

Gathering up the names
To counts the many ways
The day will be shared

A quick little prayer
Quiet moments are rare
Shy smiles all around

Steps to be remembered
It’s not long since December
Time is flowing fast

June is coming quickly
Sparkles are sticking
In your sweet glances

It’s all joyfully felt
Under your smile, I melt
Waiting almost complete

Soon we will be wed!

Poem (37) - A Prairie Dog and a Pine Snake

Wow. It's been over a year. Oh well. Here's 4 poems written for a biology 102 project in my honors class. I was very happy with the responce from my professor regarding them. ^^ And they're the first poems I've written in a very long time. Here's hoping there are more to come sooner than later.

Prairie Dog - #1

Black beady eyes squint along his nose
My little friend sits striking a pose
His body stands partially in a hole
He’s reminding me a bit of a mole
Although he does have such tiny toes

Prairie Dog - #2

Squeaking out loud with a sharp little bark
A sandy colored fellow darts out for a lark
He scampers around in circles
Hopping over holes like hurtles
I wonder if he will continue until dark

Pine Snake - #1

Smooth and rounded little head
Moving around like following a thread
While it’s tongue flickers out
I wonder what it’s thinking about
Could it be when it’s next fed

Pine Snake - #2

A slight grin permanently fixed
With it’s back tongue betwixt
Eyes glint with brown and black
As are the same colors on it’s back
Patterned well and mixed

Poem (36) - Swarms of me

Maybe someday I'll understand this one.

~Swarms of me~

Frustration often ripples

Across my mind’s sea

I get so stressed out

That I swarm like bees

My mind races

Stop the flow!

Trying to hide in places

I can’t take this anymore!

Will I explode?

Let me out!

I lost the mode

Give me sanity!

Stupidity surrounds me

I seem to be a magnet

The lost then found plea

All I can do is scream

Let me out!

I want to feel the sun!

I want to see the sky!

I want to run!

I want to be free…

Free to fly away…

Poem (35) - The Choice Arose

I'm not really certain about the title for this one.. and I'm not really happy with the last 4-6 lines. But, by golly, I don't really care. I felt like spilling words.

~The Choice Arose~

Trade me this pen for a ring
So that I might have a pretty thing
Or doll my hair up with bobbins
And wade around in silks, not cottons
Dressed to the T in ruffles and frills
Did you by chance catch the drill?
It’s time for a level of fashion
That I’ve been wanting with a passion
But as the day goes on
I feel like I’ve only been a pawn
Satins caught on corners sharp
Dirt under my fingernails larks
As I sit looking at rips
My mascara starts to drip
Splashing black along my cheeks
This wasn’t what I wanted for keeps
Dressed all up with no where to go
My day is just not flattering so
When set on keeping up trends
My face aches from the coating of blends
The glitter still sparkles even when blocked
And time is passing around the big clock
Give me back the friendly pen again
Don’t make it my choice to defend
The actions of the ones who chose
The path of long stemmed rose

Poem (34) - Aunty Nicole

This is a poem that you won't get unless you're aunty or myself. *evil grin* (HEARD) See this aunty! Just for you! ^^

BLACK
IS DEEP AND DARK!!
RED
IS DEEP AND DARK!!
YOUR HEART
IS DEEP AND DARK!!
YOUR SOUL
IS DEEP AND DARK!!

The missing verse:
(AUNTY NICOLE
IS DEEP AND DARK!!)

Poem (33) - Revolve

I could probably spend another couple of hours hashing at this one, but I'd rather not let myself. BTW, Titles are evil. Solution: Pick random word. Finished title.

~Revolve~

Tables are turning
Time is passing
Tripping up methods
Tapping out concepts
Tying down ideas
Towering above reason
Traveling around space
Trying to illustrate

Pictures splashing
Plates crashing
Piles are higher
Plans are failing
Public is waiting
Prints are delaying
Profit is dipping
Privacy dismissed

Forever is revolving
Floors are falling
Fading panels
Falling hammers
Fixing mirrors
Flipping switches
Fastening rips
Final underestimation

Drops…

Poem (32) - Brain Travel

Head hurts. Suppose to be writing my interpritations of a Robert Frost poem.. not writing more of my own. Gr.

~Brain Travel~

Check sanity at the door
Wander the ragging floor
Pass between thoughts
Clash between dashes

Welcome to the brain
Read the signs that remain
The rest are covered red
From the verbal battle spread

Whoops, there goes another
Never to catch the train together
Passing station nine forever
Always rushing, never stopping

Welcome to my little world
Ruled by paraphrasing swirls
I’ll never understand the pattern
Unless it slows down to a splatter

Heading out so very soon?
Here’s a hand to help you move
Past the flinging abstract idea
Wouldn’t want to kill you leaving
