Poem (22)- The Maiden's Pendent

This is an old one that I realized I hadn't put up here yet. ^^ Heh. Ummm...
And no it is not written from a personal experience or anything. It's just a thought for a storyish-type-thinger that popped into my head i desided that what-the-hey..i'll make it into a poem. ^^

~The Maiden's Pendent~

As the pendent falls toward the ground
Tears fall from her eyes at the sound
The one that's been given is now lost
The one that was held is given at a cost

Around her neck the pendent had laid
For many long months and many days
A blessing to be presented with much care
And the meaning of a devotion unpaired

One had come along her pleasant path
Asked for the trinket while inmist of a laugh
Scorn was born towards him that day
Never again did she see that display

One gently wooed her with tender words
Her eyes pranced with fancy in a surge
Although he had grace and tender care
He was turned away with a hard glare

One followed her path with honest hope
He caught up with her and begain to dote
She was lost in fondness for this young lad
Who captured her heart and that was sad

The pendent was his to hold and keep
To hide safe by his heart to be near the beat
He stayed true to her for quite awhile
Pleasing her fancy and taste for style

But one day his conviction was lacking
He saw another that was 'worth tracking'
The pendent felt like a heavy lead weight
So he took it off to go running about late

When she saw it lying there upon the desk
Her eyes flew open wide from this new stress
Tears begain to swell but she hoped for the best
Because she thought her choice had not been less

Finding him creeping in through the back door
Her fears were found true and quite sure
For his face was stained with a deep shame
One that no soap could ever wash away

She reached over and picked up the token
Lips moving franticly with words unspoken
Through her grasp she let the pendent tumble
Watching it drop she wished it would crumble

This now leading to where we had begun
The tragic story of their relationship is done
Be wary, young maids, of the pendent you hold
Be wary, young lads, of the temptations untold
